About Me
Cassandra Lee Saywell
M. Couns (Mental Health) MBA (HR Mgmt)
I have lived a full life, with many challenges and losses along the way. I have travelled throughout many parts of the world and experienced diverse cultures and ways of being.
One thing that doesn't seem to change, no matter where we are in the world, is the need for human connection. We all suffer and experience things in our lives that with the right support, can help us build resilience and even provide an opportunity to experience post-traumatic growth.
I have personally experienced being a frontline emergency services worker and volunteer, with over a decade of service so far within Queensland. Additionally, I have an understanding of what it means to be a partner and a sibling of an emergency services officer. My family includes several actively serving officers, providing me with a contemporary understanding of the challenges that working within these fields brings.
My personal motivation for providing counselling services is to help others grow and develop, despite the trauma and challenges that we face. I also love to facilitate psycho-education sessions, providing engaging and transformational learning to groups of two to one hundred.
It is truly humbling to be able to help others navigate these paths and witness first-hand the growth that occurs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What happens when I book for an appointment?
A. Once we have scheduled an available date and time, you will be sent some information via email for you to review prior to the first session. This information lets you know what to expect as a counselling client and explains important rights such as confidentiality.
Q. How do I know if this service is right for me?
A. I have created an Introductory session so that we can work together to establish your needs and goals for counselling. Where you have a specific need that may be better addressed with a specialised health professional, I will help you to access those services to ensure you get the best possible outcomes. It is important also that you feel comfortable with your counsellor and even the most highly skilled and trained counsellors and psychologists may not be a good fit for everyone.
My priority is that you have the opportunity to address your issues in a direct and effective way.
Q. Why is this service called On Point Counselling?
A. My style of counselling tends to be very direct and focused on what you want to achieve now, with an emphasis on the future. At times, there are previous traumas or unknown challenges that may arise that you might like to address with some longer-term therapy, however I am led by what you want to address in the here and now.
Q. Is this service covered by Medicare?
A. Counselling is not currently covered by Medicare in Australia, however some private health rebates may apply depending on who you are with and your level of cover. Please ask for more details.
